Who are we?

The Catholic Youth Team is a department of the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch with the majority of funds coming from the Bishop. As a team we serve the diocese by promoting youth ministry at Diocesan and parish levels. Our work covers the West Coast and Canterbury areas and includes work with parishes, schools, youth leaders and young people aged 13 to 35(ish). We are responsible to the Bishop

Parish Youth and Young Adults Ministries

We are able to work with parishes to evaluate the needs of young people. Our hope is that parishes will become "youth friendly communities" in welcoming young people into full, conscious and active participation in parish life.

Today "youth live in a culture which is uniquely theirs. It is essential that Church leaders study the culture and language of youth, welcome them and incorporate the positive aspects of their culture into the Church's life and mission".
